Help us celebrate outstanding BHSC teachers in a continued partnership with the Kolton Kaiser Foundation of New Albany!

Families can nominate a teacher by completing this simple form. A selection committee at central office will choose from among nominees for that building on a rotating basis (BES one week, HES the next, then BHS and HHS in the following weeks). Names will not be shared with the committee during the selection process - only the reason the teacher has been nominated. Each week, the winning BHSC teacher will be featured in a social media post and on the district's and that school's websites! The winning teacher will receive a $50 Amazon gift card from the Kolton Kaiser Foundation to use!

The quality of the story - not the number of nominations - guides our selection of the week's winner from each building on a rotating basis. Each week, one teacher from the designated school in the rotation is selected. The committee weighs the clarity and impact of nomination stories. Multiple nominations do not increase odds; strong, specific examples do.

Ask your students which teachers are making a difference for them!

New group of students having a great start to 2nd quarter with Mrs. Murrihy in Building for the Future. First week=first instant design challenge: Build a 4-room apartment using only the cardboard given, screws, nuts, and washers. Students made their own cardboard hinges to help reinforce their builds. Lots of fun learning!

🎓 Teachers learning from teachers!

Recently, HHS teacher Jacob Guernsey shared with his colleagues how he uses AI to make sure his formative assessments that students complete are truly preparing them for the summative exams in US and World History classes. By making sure that daily practice and quick checks he assigns actually match the skills and rigor students will see on the big test, he’s helping ensure that classroom learning and assessment stay connected.

Thank you, Mr. Guernsey, for leading the way and sharing your practice. This is what a strong professional learning culture looks like at BHSC! 👏

🎉 BIG NEWS, BHSC! 🎉

Six of our own just earned some SERIOUS bragging rights! 🏆

These six BHSC students have been named 2026 College Board National Recognition Program Award winners — putting them among the top 300,000 students nationwide (the largest group in the program's history)! 🎓✨

So... what does that mean? These Braves & Hornets just landed a national academic honor that gets their name in front of colleges and scholarship programs across the country. Talk about standing out! 👏

🌟 Give it up for our award-winning students:
Borden High School: Sinai Gonzalez-Figueroa, Chloe Pappas, and Wyatt Martel
Henryville High School: Abel Belcher, Jacob Finlay, and Kyle Spicer

Whether it's a strong GPA, dual credit hours earned, or being a top performer in their school or community, these students put in the work — and now the whole country gets to see it. 💪

We are SO proud of you six. Keep chasing that #BigFuture! 🚀

Henryville High School eighth grader Hayes Whitham earned high praise from 1st Lt. Kalli Mathes with the Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary, where Hayes is a dedicated cadet with the 126th Falcon Squadron based out of New Albany. The squadron commander shared that Cadet Whitham's first orientation flight was Sunday, and he performed exceptionally well, as he takes the initial steps toward his goal of becoming a commercial pilot, eventually.

Congratulations, Hayes! We're proud of you for putting in the work to become the best version of yourself!
